VI. Old Business

VII. New Business

a. Inclement Weather Policy Resolution - Bob McMath, Interim Provost

The Provost has looked at the weather policy to see how it has been implemented.

1) Primary way of alerting all of the status of classes and so forth is RazAlert. KUAF is also helpful. Commercial TV is NOT a good means for getting the word out.

2) Announcement to close the university the thursday and friday of the ice storm was delayed so as to not see hundreds of students leave town at night; preferred to make announcement so that they could leave during the day

3) FAQ section now a part of the inclement weather policy.

Three things need more work within this policy:

1) What penalties exist for those who cannot make it in; this varies from department to department.

2) Question of hourly employees is not in the policy; hourly were compensated during the recent ice storm.

3) Whether classes are to be held or cancelled when the university delays its opening.

b. 724.0 tabled.

Arkansas Law - No smoking on any campus that receives state funds.

IX. Adjourn
